Dee Smith is Director of Finacial Operantions for the College of Arts and Sciences where she directs and manages key services, including accounting, finance and analytics.

Smith is dedicated to defining and directing strategies in each of these functional areas to ensure consistency with the broad strategic goals of the college, and maintains responsibility for significant contributions to institutional planning and operational strategies.

Smith brings to this role significant experience and familiarity with the University. She began her career at UD in 1987, working for Computing and Network Services, where she answered the UD computing hotline. She later moved to a position as accountant in Dining Services and the UD Library, before advancing to the central budget office where she worked as a senior accountant for seven years. Most recently, Smith served for the last 16 years as director of financial operations in the CAS dean's office, where she was responsible for the implementation of allocation decisions to units and monitoring and evaluating expenditures on college budgets, and leading the CAS finance and analytics team in strategic and ongoing operations of the budget. In that role, she also oversaw the college's daily resource management, which included monitoring and approving grants and contracts, and preparing and interpreting complex financial reports. 

Smith holds a bachelor's degree in human resources from UD, and she and her husband are Double Dels. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling and cooking.
